FORCED DOWN
PERRFECT LANDING MADE WHEN ENGINE TROUBLE DEVELOPS
HAMILTON AIRMAN'S MISHAP MORRINSVILLE, Monday. Forced down by engine trouble in the vicinity of Morrinsville on Saturday, Mr. Martin A. Scott, of Hamilton, made a perfect landing in his Gipsy Moth machine on the- Lockerbie estate. The machine was only slight-' ly damaged. Mr. Scott had flown from the Hobsonville aerodrome on Saturday morning ,and in the afternoon, with Mr. M. Maning, manager of the Hamilton branch of the Bank of Australasia, as a passenger, he left for Morrinsville. When within about a mile and a-half of Morrinsville and flying at a height of 2000 feet, engine trouble was experienced. Exercising perfect control over his machine Mr. Scott "planed" down, and, selecting a good paddock in fairly rough country, brought the machine to rest against a wire fence. The machine was towed to Hamilton yesterday and will be in commission again shortly.
