TRIP TO MISSION BAY
WEATHER SPOILS FISHING A blustery wind and threatening rain looked anything but promising when their Excellencies, Lord and Lady Bledisloe, who were accompanied by Lady Norah Jellicoe, Mrs Veale, Sir John Hanham, A.D.C., and Mr A. Kean, of the Internal Affairs Department, Rotorua, set out to fish Lake Rotorua yesterday- Finding the lake too rough fqr pleasurable boating the party went by road to jMission Bay on the north shore, where they tried the waters with the fly. Conditions were extremely poor for fishing and nothing was caught during the morning. After lunch, however, despite the heavy rain and thunder, the party tried, again and Lord Bledisloe landed a medium sized but good conditioned trout which gave him fine sport. Later in the afternoon their Excellencies tried their skill at the Ohau Channel but were unsuccessful and they returned to Rotorua with a bag of one only. Despite the inclement weather and the failure of the fish to rise, their Excellencies enjoyed the day's outing and were by no means disappointed with their small catch.
