PRIMARY SCHOOL

BREAK UP FOR CHRISTMAS YACATION The Rotorua Primary school broke up for the Christmas vacation yesterday and will resume again on February 1. The school closed with a roll of 573 and next year 87 of that number to go on to the High School. There will be considerable staff changes when the school resumes as seven members of the present staff will not return next term. These are Misses Longworth, Sharkey, Heedegen, and Anderson; Mrs Roberts, and Messrs Carnachan and Cottrell. Yesterday morning, the male members of the staff entertained the ladies at morning tea, when the headmaster, Mr. B. M. Green, took the opportunity of wishing those members of the staff who would not be returning, the best of good luek in their new surroundings. Mr. Green referred to the excellent relations ' which had obtained among the staff and paid a tribute to the co-opera-tion which had been given him, by every member. Prizes are not given at the school, but on Thursday afternoon a large Christmas tree was given the primer classes. The tree was stocked by contributions from the older children, who reponded enthusiastically to this opportunity of bringing pleasure to their smaller fellows.
