coaster b^eeze runs aground north of lyttelton in thick fog apparently little damage

. WELLINGTON, Friday. The following message has been received hy the Marine 'Departm'pnt from the postmaster at Cheviot. "The Breeze is on the rocks at Point Robinson. The propellor is gone, and the vessel is grinding on the rocks. Assistance is urgently wanted." There was an exceptionally heavy fog along the coast during the night. The postmaster at Cheviot reported at 9.20 a.m.: — The telephonist at Port Robinson now reports that- the Breeze is ashore in the bay. The crew is safe. The sea is -cairn. The tug Lyttelton, left Lyttelton at noon to assist he Breeze. A later report stated that the Breeze was kedged off the beach at 9.30 this morning, and was anchored in Manuka Bay awaiting help. 'This
bay is a mile; south of Port Robinson. Even though still close in the vessel could not be seen from the shore owing to the dense fog, but messages ean be heard from her. The crew was ptill aboard. A report at noon said the Breeze was going to Lyttelton Under her own steam. An aeroplane had left Sockburn to go up the coast and report what speed sbe was making and if she was in need of assistance. The Breeze, which is owned by the Canterbury Steam Shipping Company, is commanded by Captain M. McArthur, and earries a crew of 16 signed on in Wellington was en route from Wellington to Lyttelton.
