LAKE ROTOMA, Monday. Mr. Angell, of Rotoehu, mustered a herd of young cattle to take to the sale and turned them on to the Lake Rotoehu frontage in readiness for an early start. This morning he discovered seven of them had been poisoned from eating ragwort, which is unfortunately prevalent in this district. The relief workers are making good headway with the road from Rotoma to Manawahae. When completed this should attraet many motorists, as it is one of the most beautiful drives in the district, passing through dense bush and ferns to a fine picnic ground and bathing beach. Mr. and Mrs. Peacock, who have been staying at Mrs. Williamson's "Rotoehu House" for the last three weeks, are returning to Auckland after a most successful fishing and deer-stalking expedition. They intend returning early in the new year. During the week-end there were several large catches of fish at Rotoehu. The trout in this lake are now in very fine condition. Major Oliver and his sister, Mrs. Benningfield, have gone to Auckland for a short visit. b— — in—
