PLANS AWRY
DISSENSION AMONG RANKS OF AUSTRALIAN "REDS." SYDNEY, Thursday. Communists are worried. The party organisation is reported to be in a state of chaos, and an urgent conference of "comrades" from all districts has been summoned to be held in Sydney. Defections in the ranks occurred recently, personal feuds broke up several "enterprises" — which is the Communist way of describing a strike — and now has come the collapse of the Commonwealth-wide plan to create a" railway and transport strike. Only in Queensland and South Australia were the forces considered sufficiently strong to tie-up the railways and these have been ordered to cease activities. Hold-U,p Cancelled. Instructions to New South Wales Communists to organise mass meetings of all railway men and transport workers in the country were suddenly cancelled last Wednesday night and the "agents" were warned to report to headquarters in Sydney immediately. The International Seamen's Club, that mysterious haunt in Argyle St., where the principal language spoken by visitors is German, is now the domicile of strange people. They hold secret meetings all day and send delegates to Sussex Street headquarters. It is complained that the party is still a party of unemployed and does not show a true reflex of the opinions of the working classes. t Bad organisation has lost hundreds of " recruits, and sectarianism has sapped fraternal organisations.
