COMMUNIST "SEAMAN" ANNOYS KATOOMBA RESIDENTS ELECTION SPEECH

-By Telegraph — Copyright.)

Rec. Dec. 13, 5.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Sunday. The Communist, Joseph Schelly, whose dismissal from the steamer Canberra caused the recent shipping strike, figured at a disorderly election meeting last night in Katoomba. Schelly addressed an open-air meeting on behalf of the Communist candidate, when 1,500 local residents lushed the platform and commenced an attack, but a policeman drew his baton and saved Schelly from serious injury. He was then escorted to the police station, his comrades making themselves scarce.
