THEFT OF RIFLES IN SYDNEY SUBURB USELESS TO THIEVES

Rec. Dec. 10, 8.30 p.m. SYDNEY, Thursday. The artillery drill hall at Ashfield was raided by thieves early this morning and two service. rifles stolen. The authorities say that the rifles are useless without the bolts which as a protection are always kept in a secret part of the building. It is believed that the real motive was the theft of ammunition none of which is ever allowed to be stored in the drill hall.
