NO ACTION ON WELLINGTON CITY COUNCILLORS SUGGESTION

WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A suggestion that a remit be forwarded to the Municipal Conference that members of the city councils in the four centres be known as aldermen and that tbe aldermen elect the Mayor, as is done in Melbourne, was made by Councillor Meadowcroft at a meeting of the city council last night, but received little countenance. After a brief discussion it was decided to take no action.
