Rec. Dec. 8, 8.40 p.m. SYDNEY, Tuesday. The weather was cold and showery when the cricket match New South Wales v. South Australia was resumed. The New South Wales tail-end-ers raised the total to 500, which was made in 340 minutes, Hird's century taking 130 minutes. Rain caused two stoppages after lunch. The bowlers were handicapped by the greasy ball and the insecure footing, but the batsmen were so slow that the barrackers became active. For South Africa Curnow made 50 in 104 minutes. Morkel also flattered the bowling, his half century taking 10 minutes longer. Heavy rain at 5.45 drove the players off the field and stumps were drawn.
