DEMOCRATS REJOIGE DEMONSTR ATION BY H.UNGER MARCHERS FALLS FLAT LABOUR LEADER'S REBUKE

— By Telegraph — Copyright).

Rec. Dec. 8, 10.45 p.m. WASHINGTON, Monday. The new House of Representatives met, accompanied with much Democrat celebrating, with a record opening attendance since the earliest days of independence. Only one member was absent and in his case serious illness was. the cause. Demonstrations by a group of 2000 hunger-marchers /recrUited throughout the United States to demand Government empioyment guarantees, resulfied in little excitement, dub to their cordial reception by the Metropolitan police, who permitted the marchers to say wbat they wished, and carry such banners as they desired. This aided the parade and removed all interest in the agitation. The only refusal was in regard to entrance to the White House and the Capitol, about which a group passed some time arguing and ' shouting threats at the "Capitalistie" Govern-

ment. ihe demonstrators then moved to the oifices of the Federation of Labour, where they gained -entrance, only to receive a scathing rebuke from Mr. Green, the president, who asserted that they were the dupes of the Communist leaders.
