ROTORUA NO. 2 TROOP.

! j | Last Thursday evening 22 * scouts paraded in St. Michael's school hall, under Scoutmaster A. W. Gordon and Troop-Leader B. Fleming, Much useful scout work occupied the major part of the evening and later the troop was instructed in the methods of rescue from drowning and release (land drill). Later it is hoped the troop will be able to apply their knowledge for test in the water and arrangements are being made toward this end. In orffer that the troop may work definitely on the patrol system, a Jeaders' week-end_ camp. was held at Mr. A. Steele's farm. . The leaders were taught the English methods of running a patrol, cooking, judging the width of rivers, the height of objects, artificial respiration, and how to drag an insensible person. The thanks of the troop are due to Mr. Steele and to Mr. D'owling, who kindly supplied the boys with barn and milk respectively. , This week a .special lep^ders' and seconds' meetinjg will be held and it is hoped to forward an invitation to the leaders of No 1 Troop to join in "airing our views" on various scout topics."
