FOUR MONTHS' FIGURES SHOW SURPLUS OVER IMPORTS LARGE BUTTER INCREASE

SYDNEY, Saturday. Figures for Australia's overseas trade for the first four months of the financial year, which commenced on July 1 last, showed a surplus of exports over imports of £7, 181, 000, Exports amounted to £27,909,000 in Australian currency, eompared with £32,611,000 for the corresponding period of last year. Expressed in sterling values comparison is £21,382,000 as against £30,591,000.
| ■ The imports were valued at £14,200,000 as against £27,301,000 for the same period last year. Expressed in Australian currency the decline was from £29,964,000 to £18,442,000. The expoidis of butter showed a rise . nearly £1,000,000 to £2,516,132. Wool, however, declined from £7,453,608 to £6,497,399. Wheat rose from £2,467,694 to £3,137,658.
