FORMER AUCKLAND AGENT CHARGED IN SYDNEY SEQUEL TO BANKRUPTCY

Rec. Dec. 3, 8.35 p.m. SYDNEY, Thursday. Charles Coward, land agent, formerly of Auckland, has been committed for trial on three charges of perjury arising out of his bankruptcy. Coward is now attorney in Australia for the Pacific Tobacco Industries of Australasia Ltd. which is registered in Aueldand and has a large numher of shareholders in the Dominion. This is the first time the Federal Crimes Act has been used to prosecute for perjury allegedly committed in bankruptcy. The jurisdiction inquiry occupied 17 days.
