certain laws should be amended - BIRTH CONTROL QUESTION

LONDON, Monday. A woman's plea of "guilty" at Leeds in respect to a self-inflictsd illegal operation, after having borne seven children in fourteen years, and fearing another, owing to poverty, led His Honour, Mr. Justice McCai^die to criticise the law. "Britain," he said, "is already over-populated. The knowledge of birth control should be widely extended, particularly among ' the poor. The law regarding illegal operations should be substantially amended, because it is not in aceord with modern conditions." The woman was bound over for two years.
