LT. COL. E. G. FRASER

NEW MANAGER OF LAKE HOJUSE HOTEL Lieut-Colonel E. G. Fraser who has assumed the management of the Lake House Hotel, is well-known in New Zealand through his distinguished military career. In 1898 he joined the New Zealand military forces and when the Boer War broke out served as QuarterMaster in the New Zealand forces in South Africa. For nine years afterwards he was president of the South African War Veterans' Association. In the last Great War he fought in the main body, was wounded twice, and was promoted to the rank of Captain, for his distinguished service in the Peninsula. He became an offieer of the Machine Gun Brigade and he later was a machine gun instructor at Featherston. After the war Leit.-Colonel Fraser became associated with the Campbell and Ehrenfried Company and travelled extensively on their hehalf. He also became vice-president of the Auckland Commercial Travellers' Association. For the past five years he has been in the hotel business and managed the Caledonian and Victoria Hotels in Auckland. He was reeently appointed by the Government under the Disabled Soldiers' Re-establishment Act, a member of the Auckland Advisory Committee.
