"KEROSENE CUP" BOWLS
Teams composed of members of the Tourist and Public Works Departments contested a friendly bowling match on Saturday afternoon on the rinks in the Government Gardens, the result being a draw on the 21st head. The teams were: — P.W.D. : N. Steele, F. Barnicott, L. Clarke and W. Bulcraig (skip) and Tourist: J. Brownlie, T. Hage, W. Young, jun., and Ci Roberts (skip). This was the first introduction to the game of all the players and Considering this, they rolled them up like old hands. Only twice did they put the bias on the wrong side. P.W.D. took the lead from the start and had scored eight before their opponents commenced, but the Tourists retaliated by gaining each head until .they evened the points. The game remained even until the P.W.D. had a lead of two on the twentieth head but again their opponents retaliated by gaining two close touchers to draw the match.
