Rec. Nov. 27, 11 p.m. BRISBANE, Friday. The conditions for the AustraliaSottth Africa Test matcb were ideal and the wicket perf ect. Ten thousand were present. Woodfull, winning the toss, did not hesitate to bat, and play resolved itself -fnto a magnificent struggle between bat and ball. Runs chme slowly and by lunch the score was one for 74. Bradman gave two chances off Quinn, the iirst when he was 10 and again when 15. He then continued on imperturbably and was unconquered at stumps with a double century. #He hit 18 fours, and was '253 minutes at the wicket. Woodfull played his usual solid innings showing great defence. He hit eight fours and was batting 178 minutes. A feature of the play was the splendid quality of the bowling throughout, while fielding was of high standard. A tremendous ovation was given Bradman when he attained a double century in the last over of the day. Nitschke, who was makiijg his dehut in Test cricket, failed to get going. ^ AUSTRALIA.— First Innings.
