Rec. Nov. 17, 10.40 p.m. SYDNEY, Tuesday. Following rain last night this morning dawned hot and fine. The : wicket rolled out beautifully for the. : continuation of the cricket match New South Wales v. South Africa. New South Wales commenced their second knock on an ideal batsman's pitch. The opening batsmen presented a broad biade to the early attack and were still together at the luneheon adjournment with 80 on the board. Bill went out in the first over after lunclieon. One wicket for 81 runs. Cameron's declaration had left New South Wales with 448 to get to win in 300 minutes. At this rate of scoring there was no chance of doing this, but Don Bradman came in and belted the bowling to all parts of the ground. Despite Fingleton's 95 minutes' start Bradman reached 50 first, mainly as a result of eight 4's. His next 50 took only 33 minutes. The bowling was now completely eollared and at j the tea adjournment the board read I one for 245. I Bradman continued to rattle the piekets and reached the century in j even time. Fingleton was in for 215 minutes for his 100. At 297 Bradman was caught. He had batted for 128 minutes and hit 15 4's. Then Fingleton, like Bradman, was caught when attemptiiig a big hit. McCabe and Marks pasted the tired bowling and in an exciting finish New
South Wales failed by 18 runs to overtake the Springboks before the match ended in a draw.
