ADVERSE EFFECT ON VALUED AMERCAN MARKET RECIPROCITY SUGGESTED. WASHINGTON, Tuesday. "If the British Empire, as a result of the coming Economic Conference, should erect a tariff wall against the rest of the world, the United States will be deprived of a valuable market," declared Mr. Henry Rainet, member of the House of Representatives for Illinois, who is high in Democratic Parliamentapy councils, on Tuesday night. Mr. Rainet stated that the United States ought to move immediately tow'ards making reciprocal tariff arrangements with other nations. He suggested that if the Demoerats got eontrol in the House of Representatives on November 7, action could be taken as soon as possible towards a drastic but provisional lowering of the Hawley-Smoot tariff rates.
