MOST MOMENTOUS IN HISTORY SAYS PRIME MINISTER LESS LEGISLATION THAN USUAL
WELLINGTON, Wednesduy. , The final session of the twentythird Parliament of New Zealand, which the Prime Minister, , the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, referred to in his closing speech as one of the most momentous in the history of the Dominion, came to a close a few minntes after six o'clock this evening. After the Governor-General's as- . sent had been obtained to the final Bills, members of both Cbambers gathered for the last time in their places and exchanged cgmpliments. The motion that the House adjourn was contested as tradition demands and on a divisi'on was earried by 22 votes to 18 votes. An official return sbows that 53 publie bills received the Royal assent, while 40 others were . dropped or otherwise disposed of. This record falls considerably sbort of the aecomplishments of previous sessions for many years past.
