MAN TAKEN ILL WHEN BEING QUESTIONED AT POLICE STATION DIES LATER IN HOSPITAL

CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. William John McCausland, a labourer, aged 34 years, married, died from poisoning at Christchurch on Saturday afternoon. McCausland was being questioned by deteetives at the police station when he complained of feeling seedy. The interview was then discontinued and he was given food and a cup of tea. After this he complained of feeling ill and was rushed to hospital, where he died at 3.40 p.m. An inquest was opened to-day and adjourned. The coroner ordered a postmortem examination and an analysis of the dregs of the tea cup.
