PARLIAMENT SPENDS HOURS IN FRUITLESS DISCUSSION BOTH EYES ON ELECTORS £7,000,000 P.W.D. VOTE PASSED IN FIVE MINUTES
-By Telegraph — Copyright.)
WELLINGTON, Thursday. During the debate on the Customs Act Amendment Bill last night in the House of Representatives, members spent hours discussing the wheat and flour duties and the price of the loaf, employing arguments and making points which had all been done to death earlier in the session- Perhaps the price of bread is expected to he a live issue at the approaching elections. In the early morning a very tired and thin House then put through the Public Works Estimates totalling £7,000,000 in less than five minutes without any discussion and the adjournment was taken at 5.10 a.m. until 7.30 p.m. to-day.
