ONLY A SHIRT
PARTIALLY DRESSED MAN ON VERANDAH OF HOUSE. RESULT OF TOO MUCII DRINK. Found on the verandah of an Ohinemutu residence at a late hour on Saturday night, in an advanced state of intoxication and clad Only in his shirt, a young man appeared before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Rotorua Magistrate's Court on Monday, and on a charge of being unlawfully on premises by night, was convicted and fined £5. After hearing the f acts of the case, the magistrate said that there had obviously been no intention on the part of the accused to commit a crime. The affair was evidently the result of too much drink. Senior-Sergt. Carroll stated that the accused had considerably alarmed the occupants of the house, who had rung up the police. When discovered on the verandah, the young. man had- been very drunk and was wearing only a shirt. Afteri imposing a conviction and finfe, the magistrate granted an application by the accused. for the suppressiori of his name.
