RIFLE SHOOTING
ROTORUA RIFLE CLUB HOLDS PRESENTATION OF PRIZES During the shooting of the Rotorua Miniature Rifle Club at the drill hall, on Monday evening, a break was made for the presentation of prizes by His Worship the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson. Mr. A. V. Merriman, vicepresident of the Rotorua Miniature Rifle Club, acted as chairman, and there were about 40 members present. . In his introductory remarks, the chairman commented upon the keen competition and expressed his pleasure of seeing so many of the Rotorua Miniature club present. Mr. Merriman then called on His Worship the Mayor to present the prizes, which were as follows: — G. A. Ford, highest score off rifle, competition night, Mr. Merriman's medal ; G. A. Ford, highest score with handicap, club's trophy, first prize; R. Henderson, second highest score with handicap, club's trophy, second prize; G. A. Ford, second prize on final shoot,- C.A.C. shooting cup; W. Beamish, best aggregate for month, Rotary Club's medal; W. Beamish, highest score off rifle final shoot, Mayor's trophy; W. Beamish, highest score with handicap, Mr. Hardcastle's trophy; W. Beamish, all comers match, grouping and deliberate, first prize; S. M, Bates, all comers match, snap and rapid, first prize. The chairman then asked those present to show their appreciation for the interest taken in the club by His Worship the Mayor, and a vote of thanlcs was earried by acclamation. The Arawa Club has now closed its shooting for the year, but nearly every member is now taking an active part in the Rotorua Miniature Rifle Club.
