Rec. Nov 2, 8.45 p.m. MELBOURNE, Monday Great excitement prevailed to-day owing to a report that Phar Lap may be scratched for the Melbourne Cup. Neither of the owners has made a definite statement, Mr. Davis stating that he wants to be left alone to-day. The horse was still in the race at 5 o'clock.
