EXPENDITURE BY TAURANGA AND OPOTIKI BOROUGH COUNCILS LEGISLATION INTRODUCED

WELLINGTON, Friday. Irregularities in connection with the Tauranga Borough Council's loan of £4470 for sewerage and drainage woi'lcs are validated in the Local Legislation Bill which was introduced and read the first time in the House of Representatives to-day. The Tauranga Borough Council is also authorised recoup the general account from loan moneys to the extent of £971, moneys having been advanced in anticipation of a loan authority. A further clause in the Bill validates the expenditure of £1000 by the Opotiki Borough Council out of the wharf aecount for unemployment relief purposes.
