TWO IN HOSPITAL
TWO LADIES KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR IN RANOLF STREET ONE SERIOUSLY HURT While walking along- Ranolf Street last evening just before 8 o'clock, two sisters, Miss Alice Ross and Miss Edith Ross, residing in Seddon Streel, were knocked down by a car driven hy Father Spierings and received ihjuries which necessitated their removal to hospital. Miss Alice Ross received serious head injuries and" her sister, although less seriously injured, sustained a fractured right elhow and j shock and abrasions. | _ Fortunately, Sister Jackson, the district nurse, together with another nurse were in the vicinity and were able to render immediate aid to the two injured ladies. Dr. S- H. Hay was summoned and ordered both into' hospital. Father Spierings was' driving down Ranolf Street in the direcfion off the town and the two" ladies Were walking in the same direction. Another car was approaching from th'e direction of Amphau Street and the glare of its headlights apparently occupied Father Spierings' attention and prevented his ohserving the two pedestrians walking on the dark side of the road. The first intimation; the driver received of anything amiss was the hump of the impact. Boffh ladies were thrown to the side of the road and were quickly'removed to theresidence of the Rev. F- H. Spericer, which was adjacent. Here they were attended by the two nurses and an examination was carried out hy Dr." Hay.
