KING GEORGE V. HOSPITAL MINISTER QUESTIONED

WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The .decrease in the grants to the King George V. Hospital at Rotorua was commented on hy Mr. W. J. Savage (Labour, Auckland West), in the House of Representatives to-night. He pointed out that wages at the King George V. and Infections Diseases Hospitals at Rotorua, had been decreased in the estimates from £14,045 last year to £6700 this year. , At the same hospital, maintainance had been reduced from £9000 to £4500. The Minister of Health, the Hon. J. A. Young, replied that a smaller staff would be required at the hospital this year as many of the invalid children had been removed to the Otaki health camp. The King George V. Hospital had originally been established for 5 soldier's orthopaedic work and the volume of treatments had decreased.
