PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES >WON DURING PAST SEASON FINAL EVENT OF YEAR The offieial closing of the golfing season in Rotorua took place yesterday afternoon at the conclusion of the presentation by Mrs. W. W. P. Hall, of trophies won' during the season by members of the Rotorua Golf Club. Before the presentations Mr. W. W. P. Hall, vice-president of the club, in a brief speech referred to the successful season just concluded and mentioned that this year was unique in that it included three important tournamentSj the annual club championship tournament, the veterans' tournament;8 and last but not least, the ladies' amateur championship of New Zealand. It was also the first year that members had been able to use their fine new club-house for a complete season. Mr. Hall congratulated the ladies' committee on the splendid way in which the L.G.U. championship tournament had been run. He said that he had heard some of the ladies remark that it was the most successful meeting held in the past 20 years. Mr. Hall then called upon the winner of the club open championship, Mr. R. C. Smith, to receive his trophy, the victor being greeted with rounds of applause. Other trophies presented were: — Runner-up for championship, Mr. G. Brett; second division championship, Mr. W. Ashton; runner-up, Mr. D. 'Jervis; Macdonald Cup, Mr. R. C. Smith; Kirk-Windeyer Visitors' Cup, Mr. K. Buddle; opening day mixed foursomes, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Brown (Auckland) ; first medal match, Mr. S. L. Paterson; second medal match, Mr. W. Kusabs; medal foursome, Mr. M. D. Carr and Dr. S. H. Hay; first bogey, Mr. E. Barber; four-ball bogey, Messrs. D. George and E. La Trobe Hill; mixed foursome bogey, Mrs. Wackrow and Dr. Macknight; qualifying round, best nett score, Dr. Macknight; bogey handicap, Mr. G. Brett; medal handicap, Mr. E. H. Hill; bogey handicap, Mr. R.C. Smith; fourball bogey, Messrs. P. A. Kusabs and C. Kusabs; president's medal presented by Mr. H. E. Troutbeck, Mr. G. Brett; Mr. F. W. Wilkie's trophy for best aggregate score in championship rounds, Mr. M. D. Carr; the winners of three bogey handicap events, Messrs. S. E. Carr, G. Brett, and the Rev. E. C. Hetherington; four-ball bogey, Mr. F. Wilkie and Mr. C. Worthington; foursome bogey, Dr. Lewis and the Rev. W. H. Speer; mixed foursome bogey, Mr. E. Barber and Mrs. Knight; eclectic handicap for trophy presented by Mr. H. E. Goodwin, Dr. W. S. Wallis; Canadian foursome, Messrs. A. W. Downer and T. Kelly; four-ball bogey, Messrs. W. Kusabs and McElroy; four-ball bogey, Messrs. G. Potts and R. G. Marsh; mixed foursomes, Mrs. Haymes and Mr. P. A. Kusabs; consolation bogey for captain's trophy, Colonel Mellor. The golf season was then declared closed, but Mr.'Hall assured the members that this did not mean the course was closed. That, he reminded them, was open all the year round.
