CROQUET
ANNUAL MEETING OF THE ROTORUA CLUB ELECTION OF OFFICERS The annual meeting of the Rotorua Croquet club was held last week. The election. of officers for the ensuing season resulted : — Patron, Mrs. C. H. Clinkard; president, Mrs. Blencowe; vice-presidents, Mesdames W .W. P. Hall and W. H. Speer; committee, Mesdames, W. L. Richards, C. H .C. Wofthington, C. Lloyd, W. Pakes, J. Halkett, and H. J. F. Heiey; secretary, Mrs. Dyson. It was decided to open the new season on Saturday, OctobOr 31. It was reported that the South Auckland Croquet Associatioh had decided to hold its annual tournament at Rotorua this year at the same time as the bowling tournament. The annual report arid balarice shest which were read and sidopted, reve'aled a most satisfactory past season. Gn the financial side there was a credit balance of £10 15s 3d, after a season of - unusually heavy expenditure. The club had donated £10 to the eartliquake relief fund, £2 2s towards the repair of the Hawke's Bay Croquet Association's pavilion, and £2 2s towards the citizens' gift fund for Mr. and Mrs. W. Hill. Presentations had also been made by the club to Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Moorhouse, both members of the club for over 20 years, who had recently left the district, to Mrs. Hogan the club champion, and to Mrs. Steele, the late secretary. The ofiicial opening of the club bad been held on November 1 last year and a most enjoyable and successful afternoon had been spent by both members and visitors. The annual tournament had .been abandoned at the last moment on account of the earthauake, but a carnival which had been held in its place, had proved ■most successful and had returned a profit of £9 10s 8d. Club matches had been keenly contested and winners during the season had been: Championship, Mrs. Hogan; runner-up, Mrs. „ W. L. Richards; handicap single, first, Mrs. Hogan; second, Mrs. Butler; handicap doubles, first, Mrs. Manson, and Mrs. Dyson; second, Mrs. Moorhouse and Mrs. Parata. Prizes' for the highest points in progressive croquet during the season were won by Mrs. Worthington,*one, and Mrs. Thomsen, two.
