BOROUGH BY-ELECTIONS

MR. R. GRIFFITHS WITHDRAWS IN MR. GALBRAITH'S FAVOUR REASONS FOR DECISION "When I consented to allow myself to be nominated for the vacancy on the Borough Council, . I did so after learning that as late as Thursday evening of last week, Mr. Galbraith had stated definitely that he did not intend to stand for re-election. "Mr. Galbraith is a counoillor of some years experience, whereas I should have a good deal to learn. "In view of this and also to save the Borough the cost of an election, I have withdrawn in f avour of Mr. Galbraith." The above statement was given to the "Post" last night by Mr. R. Griffiths, one of the two candidates nominated for the byelection to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr. W. Galbraith.
