MR. ATMORE'S SERVICES AS EDUCATION MINISTER EULOGISED COMMITTEE'S SPECIAL REPORT
WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Education Committee submitted a special report to the House of Representatives to-day placing on record its appreciation of the services rendered by Mr. PI. Atmore during his term of office as Minister of Education, and expressing s'neere regret that tbe Coalition had resulted in his vacating office. The committee stated that it trusted that Mr. Atmore's services would not be long lost to the Dominion and that the recommendations of the recess education committee would shortly he given effect to. "I wonder what the Government is going to do about this," said Mr. M. J. Savage (Laboxir, Auckland West). The Government deliberately got rid of this honourable gentlexnan and here we have the Education Committee, I take it with the support of the Government, expressing regret at the action of the Government. I suggest they resign straight away." (Laughter.) Mr. J. S. Fletcher (Independent Grey Lynn), expressed regret that the Education portfolio had been removed from the House of Representatives to the Legislative Council.
