HAMILTON, Monday. A distressing tragedy occurred at a farm house at Silverdale, near the Ruakura State Farm this morning, resulting in the death of one child and the prohahle death of another. The children were Eric Wilson, aged •three years and Samuel Wilson, aged two years, sons of Mr and Mrs Archibald Wilson, well known residents Of the district. The youngsters went out into a shed on the farm to play, and there, apparently by standing on a sack of potatoes, pulled down from a shelf a cattle fever outfit. Opening one of the bottles which contained carbolic acid, both children apparently drank some of the contents. The first intimation that anything was amiss, was when the youngsters Walked up to the house, one staggering. Mrs Wilson then noticed • discolouration about the mouth of both boys, and immediately sensing that all was not well, rang for Dr .A. G. Waddell, who hurried out, to find both children badly poisoned. The elder boy, Eric, expired a few minutes after he arrived. He immediately sent the other child Sam,uel to the Waikato hospital, from where it is reported there is little chance of recovery. The two children are the youngest of a family of five, the eldest of whom is seven years of age.
