Rec. Oct. 14, .45 p.m. SYDNEY, Wednes. The seamen's dispute affecting the steamer Canberra has taken a more serious turn. As a settlement was not effected the vessel has beeri laid up indefinitely. The fifteen race horses for Melbourne were unloaded and are being entrained for that destination to-night. All the passengers have left the vessel. The Canberra's cargo is being transhipped to the steamer Wear but the union is directing the waterside workers to refuse to handle it. There is every indication that the dispute will extend to "other interstate vessels. Howard Smith Ltd., announce that the steamship Dimboola is replacing the Canberra. The New Zealand horses involved are Banner, Concentrate, and Oratorian.
