appreciation of services PRESENTATION IN WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, Saturday. Mr W. J. (" Billy ") Wallace. an

ex-AU BlacL, Who represented New Zealand in 1903, 1904, 1905, 1907; and 1908, was- made a presentatiod this morning hy the United Commeraial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association, in the form of a bound volume of "The New Zealand Traveller," in recognition of his aontributions to that publication from Jufle •of last year, to July of this year, in the form of reminiscences. The captain of the Australian teara (Mr Malcolm) was present, and expressed his pleasure at having the opportunity of paying his respocfcs to Mr Wallace, who had d,one a great deal for the game. Mr Jacobs, president of the association, said the presentation was not local, and was meant ito convey the appreciation of all members. Mr Prendeville, chairman of the Management Committee of the Wellington Rtigby Union, also paid tribpte to Mr Wallace, anentiqnmg that for some years Mr Wallace had been one ■of the selectors, and had assisted in coaching various teams. "His heart and soul were in the game, and it was a treat to know that rthe general pu'blic appreciated what he had done for football in New Zealand," concluded Mr Prendeville. Mr Wallace, in replying, -said it was gratifying to know that the readers of "The New Zealand Traveller" had appreciated his articles.
