SIR T. LIPTON DEAD

WORLD FAMOUS YACHTSMAN PASSES IN HIS SLEEP NOTABLE LIFE ENDS AT 81. LONDON, Saturday. The death is announced of Sir Thomas Dipton, the world-famous sportsman and yachtsman, and the head of one of the largest chain store businesses in Britain. He died in his sleep of heart-failure. Sir Thomas was born in Glasgow of Irish parentage in 1850. Sir Thomas Lipton caught a chill last week while motoring. He was attended at the last by four doctors. He had arranged to sail to-day on a short business trip to the United States. A world-wide tribute has been paid to the sportsmanship of the world's best loser.
