Johnson, during a discussion | at last evening's Borough Coun- | cil meeting. "Is it just going to give us instructions or is it gomg to assist the council. It is all very weil to pay half-a-crown a year but if that is going to he | the extent of their contribution towards the beautification of the town, and they are merely go- | ing1 to give djrections to the council, then I think we should eonsider the matter very carei fully. They look to me Hke an- . oiJier Ratepayers' Association." (Laughter). Cr. Johnson was proceeding further when the Mayor (Mr. T. Jackson) re-called him to the poiat under discussion which was a suggestion from the society that the council should do something to combat the prevalence of noxious weeds in some of the streets of the town.
