TWO RESIGNATIONS
BUT NOT ACCEPTED WORKS COMMITTEE AND JURISDICTION OVER MR. TSCHOPP "WASH OUR HANDS OF IT" A brisk discussion terminating in the resignation of two members of the Works' Committee developed at last evening's Rotorua Borough Council meeting when councillors devoted some time to a discussion of the powers and authority of the landscape architect, Mr". F| Tschopp, who is at present engaged in carrying out work for the borough, and in determining which of the council's different committee had this work under its jurisdiction. Although both Councillors W. Galbraith. and Albert Smith tendered their resignations as members of the Works' Committee, the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, ruled that these resignations tendered in open council could not be accepted. The discussion arose when the council was considering the report of the Works' Committee which recommended, inter alia, that as it had no allocation for beautifying work it had instructed the engineer not to supply, for work supervised by Mr. Tschopp, any materials which would be a charge on the allocation of the committee. Immediately this recommendation was read out, Councillor O. H. Coleman entered a protest. He did not like this recommendation at all he said, and considered that it should be deleted. Councillor W.
