The Beautifying Society also forwarded a letter to last evening's council meeting drawing the attention of the council to the prevalence of noxious weeds in some streets of the town. Ref erring to this letter, the Mayor (Mr. T.- Jackson), said that it was a pity the society had not specified the streets to which its complaint applied. He knew that a large number of notices had been sent out to property owners in this connection. This portion of the society 's letter was referred to tho Generai Committee.
