OFF GOLD STANDARD LONDON, Tuesday. In the House of Commons the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr. Philip Snowden) announced that Portugal, Norway, Sdewen and Bolivia had temporarily abandoned the gold standard, and Denmark had prohibited the export of gold.

COPENHAGEN, Sept. 28. Denmark has suspended the gold standard. BERLIN, Sept. 28. Dr. Bruening, the Chancellor, stated the currency must remain intact. The Government, in conjunction with the Reichsbank, would do everything in its power in the way of protection. AMSTERDAM, Sept. 28. The bank rate- has been increased from 2 to 3 per cent.
