CO-OPERATION VITAL
STATEMENT BY FRENCH PREMIER IN BERLIN FIRST VISIT SINCE 1878 BERLIN, Sunday. In making the first official French visit si'nce the Congress of Berlin, 1878, MM. Laval and Briand, were cordially welcomed by a huge crowd on their arrival. M. Laval issued a statement to newspaper men, declaring that the unprecedented economic crisis had alarmed the world, emphasising the need for Franco-German co-operation He pointed out the necessity for immediate action, and added: "We shall establish a Franco-German committee to examine those ecomonic questions in which both countries are interested." General Hitler warned his followers not to allow themselves to be enticed into demonstrations against the French Ministers by agents-provoca-teurs, as such action would only provide France with pretexts for political demands, chiefly directed against the Nazis.
