LONDON PRESS UNANIMOUS THAT ELECTION IS IMMINENT NATIONAL VICTORY CERTAIN
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
LONDON, Sunday. The Sunday papers are unanimously of opinion that an election is imminent. ' The "Observer" says the Conservatives are convinced that an election is the only solution. They now await Mr. MacDonald's decision as to whether he will lead a National Party to the country. It is estimated that such a party would have the help of the Liberal votes cast. An election, it is believed, would show that the support for Mr. MacDonald among the Labourites was larger in the country than is indicated in the House of Commons. The new Government, therefore, would command a decisive majority. Mr J. L. Garvin says the timely adoption of a tariff with preference provisions is Britain's sure and splendid ehance, but it is her last opportunity — it is now or never. The Imperial Conference would at last be summoned with an assurance of practical success.
