french tourist traffic hit by fall of sterling RIVIERA RESORTS DESERTED
-By Telegraph — Copyright) .
PARIS, Saturday. The present pound quotation promises to be almost a knockout blow to France's valuable tourist traffic. The German crisis which resulted in a tax of £5 being levied on Germans leaving the country for a holiday has also lcept thousands from France. The lavishly-expensive Riviera resorts, to which tens of thousands of Britishers resort in the winter, will practically be deserted. Incidentally fewer wealthy Americans are crossing at present. The favourable exchange will be a great inducement for the French to visit England and French tourist agencies are already urging the French to spend their holidays there.
