MONTE CARLO
BOUDOIR ROMANCE SET IN EUROPEAN BACKGROUND. "Monte Carlo," screening at the Majestic Theatre on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, is a romance as intimate as milady's boudoir set against the gackground of that sophisticated and fascinating spot in Europe, Monte Garlo itself. This tale, deftly woven by the mastertouch of Ernst Lubitsch, tells of a Countess running away on her wedding day. She goes to Monte Carlo, and in a desperate- effort. to retrieve her fortunes, gambles. But another kind of gambling enters her life. Asgambl,e in hearts. For such a fascinating place as Monte Carlo, Lubitsch decided that the sets should be lavish and extr emely mo dern. Representing the royal suite in one of Monte Carlo's most exclusive and most expensive hotels this sequence of the picture presents lavish, ultra modern sets, a, wonderful background for( this musical romance. Jack Buchanan is the man who causes all the heart flutterings on the part of the Countess, played by Jeanette MacDonald. This charming actress sings several beautiful numbers, and Mr. Buchanan also sings.
