Red Lion is a six-year-old gelding by Solferino — Rose Red, and as a yearling was purchased by J. C. and P. S. Gleeson, of Auckland, for 1000 guineas. He turned out a great disappointment during the time he raded in their colours, winning only one event, a seven-furlong race at Menangle Parlc, Sydney.
