PROPOSAL, TO HOLD BIENNIAL CONTESTS DEFEATED FRANCE AND U.S.A. OPPOSED Rec. Sept. 23, 7 p.m. LONDON, Wednesday. The Lawn Tennis Assoeiation reveals the defeat of a proposal to hold the Davis Cup contests biennally. Thirteen countries, including Australia, New Zealand, South Airica and Great Britain, voted in favour of the proposal and 20 including France and the United States, voted against it.
