SEQUEL TO ACCIDENT ON NGONGOTAHA ROAD . . The quteome of a recent motor coliision o,n the Ngongotaha Road, when a Hindoo'was injured and ad- : mitted to hospital with a severely gashed arm, was heard in the Rotorua Magistrate's Coqrt yesterday morning when Frank Hall Young, a Rotorua lorry driver, was fined £2 on a charge of negligent driving. Mr, J.. D. Davys appea,red for Young and entered a plea of guilty. Sergeant Harvey, for the police, said' that Young was driving his lorry on a straight piece of road when the coliision occurred. Defendant suddenly- turned in at a gateway to pick up some cream and did not percieve a car which was right alongside him. Young s looked through the window at the back of the cab and also to his left, but omitted to look for trafiic on his righf;. The result was that a coliision occurred and the Hindoo, who was being carried as a passenger, was injured. No question of excessive speed entered into the matter. Mr. Davys said that. the sergeant had stated the facts very fairly and he had nothing to add except to ?ay that Young had never been before the court previously. In reply to a question from the Magistrate, the sergeant said that Young had stated that it was impossible for him to signal to the right owing to the high d.oor in the cab. A fine of £2 was inflicted with 10s costs. Two Further Charges Keith Cooper, of Wairoa, pleaded guilty by letter to a charge of overloading on the Rotorua-Te Puke Road on August 1. The inspector said that this man came through in broad daylight and was the holder of a "J" license. He was fined £2 with costs 10/-. Raurete Moke, of Wharepaina, pleaded guilty to a charge of overloading on the Rotorua-Taupo Road on August 3 and was fined £10 with 17/- costs. On a further charge of not being the holde-r of a heavy traffic license, he was fined 10/- with costs £1 12/-.
