TROPHY CHANGES HANDS IN ; EXCITING GAME AT MORRINSVILLE MATAMATA'S SUCCESS HAMILTON, Saturday. Tho Peace Cup changed hands this afternoon, when in a highly exciting game at Morrinsville, Matamata defeated Morrinsville (the holders) by 15 points to 12. Matamata made a great recovery in the last 15 minutes of play. Matamata faced the sun in tbe opening half and attacked early. The Morrinsville forwards retaliated strongly and the visitors were called upon to force twice in quiclc succession. Matamata were attacking most of the time, but the defence was sound. Morrinsville then took a hand in affairs and shortly before the interval Rowden gathered in at the visitor's 25. He worked the short side and fed in to Campbell, who scored. Harnett's kick narrowly missed. Halftime was called with the scores: — Morrinsville 3, Matamata 0. W. Carroll retired with an injured hand. B. Marshall-Inman replaced him in the five-eighths line of the Morrinsville team. From an early penalty Harnett goaled for Morrinsville. Morrinsville 8, Matamata 0. Morrinsville were rewarded after a long period of attack when Bodmin worked the blind side and Campbell scored an unconverted try. Morrinsville 9, Matamata 0.
