labour paper's election forecast OUTLINE OF PROGRAMME Rec. Sept. 15, 9.15 p.m.

n — Copyright.

By Telephone — "Post" Special Service, LONDON, Tuesday. No other papers confirm the "Daily Herald's" forecast of an almost immediate dissolution. Nevertheless, the "Herald" takes the report seriously enough to devote a leader to the Labour election programme and throughout use was made of antiprotection arguments. The paper cannot be said definitely to adhere to Free Trade. It says: "The so-called Coalition is not really anxious to fight now, but is terrified of the prospect of fighting later. The Tories seek to evade the elector's judgment by plundering the poorest classes at the dictation of the banjcers, and by promising tariffs as a cure for unemployment, though tariff-ridden Germany and the United States of America are staggering under unemployment. "Labour will enter the fight confidently," the paper continues, "and will seek to remedy the newest injustices and to deal with the finances on the basis of a genuine equality of sacrifice, and will overhaul the inadequate and inefficient system which is largely responsible for the present trouble."
